In the evenings you can relax by the fire or on a warm evening dine in the garden. Schull offers a children's playground, fishing, walks, restaurants, pubs. Coosheen Golf Links (9 hole) situated 3 km from the village of Schull overlooking Schull Harbour and the famous Fastnet Rock Lighthouse. This course has six par 3's and 3 par 4's all of which are challenging even to the keenest of golfers. Coosheen Golf Links with its panaromic views make it one of he prettiest courses in West Cork. Sailing is very popular in Schull. Throughout the year The Fastnet Marine Outdoor Education Center is a hive of activity. It hosts many second and third level competitions for both national and international sailors. A highlight is the Fastnet International Schools Regatta held every July. The 5 day sailing courses which run every summer are also very popular, so please book early to avoid disappointment. Schull Harbour Sailing Club is also very active throughout the summer months. Its infamous Calves Week is a highlight of sailors both local and visiting. Boats operate out of Schull and Crookhaven and the deep sea angling is excellent, with good catches of Blue Shark, Pollack, Cod, Ling, Bull Huss etc. 27 different species were recorded on rod and line here in one season fishing from Crookhaven. Anyone who has witnessed the spectacle during August of mackerel fishing from the pier in Schull will have seen that anybody can become a fisherman or fisherwoman once they have a rod and line. Shore fishing offers a selection of venues such as beaches, piers and rocky headlands. Ray and Bull Huss are two of the species taken here, especially in August and September.
