The area boasts magnificent scenic mountain walks, woodland trails and lakeside rambles, not to mention fishing, golfing and riding - so something for everyone. The towns of Rathdrum, Wicklow and Arklow are close by or take the train to Dublin for an interesting day out. Brittas Bay beach is 30 minutes' drive.

Glendalough, once the monastic capital of Europe, attracts up to 500,000 visitors annually. The ruins of the seven churches and the 6th century round tower owe their origins to St Kevin. There is a visitor centre which runs guided tours, exhibitions and audiovisual shows. The village of Laragh just down the road has a range of interesting gift shops, coffee shops and restaurants.
