Abbey is an excellent touring base with Connemara and the Burren within easy reach. The local pubs host weekly traditional music sessions and the owner welcomes guests with homemade bread and scones!

There are walks in Portumna forest park and a popular 18 hole golf course - indeed there are 13 golf courses within an hour's drive of the property. Many have open days so the entry costs are reduced to €20. The apartment was formerly the village shop! Now deceptively spacious inside and very comfortably furnished. The garden with gazebo is to the left of the property but all yours to enjoy. Portumna is a lovely town with plenty of shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants. Water sports and fishing nearby. There is also a depot for Emerald Line Cruisers.
