One of three traditional style thatched cottages built to replicate the original Shannonside cottages, sits just 2.25 miles outside the village of Cloghan, in the heart of the countryside of Co. Offaly. Step back in time as you enter the half door to a lovely kitchen come dining area with a solid wood stove and poetic mural. The two upstairs bedrooms are joined by a suspended walkway. It can be offered alone or together with two other cottages to accommodate larger parties of up to 18.

Situated on a working farm, retaining old irish charm, it evokes memories from the time of old storytelling and music. The location is convenient for the Slieve Bloom Mountains, and close by there are 4 golf clubs, angling, Clara Bog, Birr Castle, and the monastic site of Clonmacnoise. Banagher which is 17 miles away is home to rivercruising, salmon and trout fishing, with lots of good walks and bird watching in the area.

Banagher is in the centre of Ireland, 2.5 hours from Dublin and 3.5 from Belfast. The River Shannon flows through the town making it popular for coarse fishing and pleasure cruising from the marina. Excellent walking area with many golf courses and horse riding centres. These houses on the outskirts of Banagher town are the ideal base, spacious, with every modern convenience and just a stroll into town to enjoy a slice of the real Ireland.
