Dungloe, with its island-studded bay, is a haven for wildlife, fantastic for nature lovers and birdwatchers alike. A little further afield, Glenveagh National Park is a great day out. |

Dungloe is known as 'The Capital of The Rosses', the name given to this region of County Donegal. The town has a selection of shops, bars and eateries, and events throughout the year. A fisherman's paradise, the area has over 130 lakes and rivers, and is renowned for its fishing and sea angling, with several charter boats available in nearby Burtonport. Wonderful wildlife can be found in the bogs and reed beds, while golfers will love the variety of golf courses in the surrounding area. |

The village of Gortahork is situated on the north western tip of the County Donegal coast, and is a popular location for surfing and walking. There are several beaches around the area, and the village is home to the Samhain International Poetry Festival each year. From Gortahork, Glenveagh National Park is easily accessible for a great day out, and with 16,000 acres, it is a walker's paradise. From Gortahork, you can charter a boat and visit Aranmore, Cruit Island and Owey Island. Cruit Island is joined to the mainland by a bridge, so is easily reached by car, but chartering a boat is much more exciting! Nearby, the town of Dungloe plays host to the annual 'Mary From Dungloe' festival, and is renowned for its fantastic fishing. |
