Easily accessible from the mainland by a ferry that runs from Reenard Point, or via the road bridge at Portmagee, Knightstown provides restaurants and pubs, as well as entertainment and local shops. It also offers a variety of sightseeing boat excursions and fishing excursions from its picturesque harbour. With around 650 residents, Valentia Island was the site of the first permanent communications link between Europe and the United States, and is famed for its magnificent 'Fogher' sea cliffs and its subtropical gardens at Glanleam House. |
